September 17 1824, explorer John Oxley and his party were camping on the riverbank near the mouth of a sizeable creek. Their early breakfast was disturbed by a group of Aborigines but not before Oxley had given the Breakfast Creek its name. The main feature of the restaurant, the boat is, aptly named "The John Oxley". John Oxley was discontent with the site he was mapping for settlement at Redcliffe and sailed down the river to the site where they stopped for breakfast (Breakfast Creek). Oxley, then decided to abandon the site at Redcliffe and moved it to what we now know as Brisbane. Breakfast Creek was then and has been ever since, an important part of the history of Brisbane. Many memories have been created and celebrated at The Wharf. Proposals, engagements, 21sts and wedding anniversaries of several generations of many families have taken place here. The Breakfast Creek location has been the home for a number of famous seafood restaurants over the last 30 years. These have included "The Moorings", Burleigh Marr's" and the "Coral Trout" (the name we've kept for our function room) and of course our very own Breakfast Creek Wharf Seafood Restaurant which was established in 1983.
